This is a story about an idealistic young boy who grows up as the only son of a loving family. As Abhijit grows older, he discovers that his family that he always idolized as the perfect family, turned out to be ordinary, even flawed. He begins to see that his hero father actually has clay feet. Disappointed, he leaves home and travels abroad to study so that he doesn’t have to be witness to his parents crumbling marriage.
After two years of being away from home – he gets a call from his mother asking him to come back because his father is ill. On his return, he finds out that his father has contracted HIV and is now in hospital suffering from the end stages of AIDS.
Grudgingly, at his mother’s behest, and for her sake, Abhijit starts spending his days in the hospital with his father and watches his slow physical deterioration. What he is struck by though, is his father’s mental resilience and continued will to enjoy what little life he has left.
